Less than Enthused About Spending New Year's Getting Wasted & Kissing Questionable Types at the Stroke of Midnight? NYC's Jivamukti Yoga Center Has a Booze-Free & More Spiritual Alternative to Ringing in the New Year. FASHIONTRIBES BLOG

For the 17th year in a row, NYC's Jivamukti will provide a yogic place of refuge for all on New Year's Eve. Called "Mauna" - the yogic practice of silence - a no-talking rule will be in effect from 9:00pm-12:00am. All the practice rooms will be open and available to provide a space for individual reflection on this special evening.

At midnight, everyone chants "Loka Samasta Sukhino Bhavantu" ("May All Beings Everywhere Be Happy & Free") together 108 times, followed by inspirational talks from the likes of Jivamukti founders Sharon Gannon & David Life, as well as Kristina Pao Cheng and David Gluck. And then they break out the vegan snacks, as well as the famous Jivamukti News Year's Eve Yummy Vegan Chai.

And then you head home, head clear & om'd out - passing the staggering drunks and giving thanks for the fact that it's them & not you with a blinding hangover to look forward to. JivamuktiYoga.com
