Pointing out the 30% of the human genome has been patented, Iris Van Herpen dubbed her F'14 showing Biopiracy. "It is just raising questions," she observes. It's also raising the bar on design for the future. She collaborates with some really cool cats, including CERN (the supercollider), the Materials Department of MIT and Canadian architect Philip Beesley, with whom she teamed up on her last runway look (above), a 3D printed silicone dress. "Bringing an explosion of the inside to the outside."
