As Executive Vice President of Development and Acquisitions, Ivanka Trump gets paid to globetrot. And represent while doing so. So when you work for a guy known for firing people, it's best to bring your fashion A-game. Which means diamonds. Especially if you design them yourself!
“The Journey was designed for the self-purchasing, stylish woman," explains Ivanka about her latest blingy endeavor: a series of fine-jewelry collections inspired by her love of design, architecture and travel. In particular, favorite locations around the globe, starting with home, sweet home. "Metropolis means 'mother city'," notes the born-and-raised New Yorker, "so it was important to me that Metropolis was the first collection in the Journey series. The culture and atmosphere of this city have always been a major source of creative inspiration."
A fan of Gotham's extensive Art Deco architecture, Ivanka particularly likes the iconic and towering 40 Wall Street building (right), a gem completed in 1930 after only 11 months of construction. It is still one of the tallest buildings downtown today. This influence of this lovely structure is apparent in Metropolis, down to the Greek key, a popular design feature of the period which Ivanka and her team incorporated into each piece. “I am proud of this first collection in The Journey," adds fellow native Gothamite Geoffrey Hess, President of Ivanka Trump Fine Jewelry. “Being born and raised in New York City myself, this collection is also personal to me. Inspiration for great jewelry rarely comes from great cities, but I believe Ivanka’s vision expertly captures the spirit of New York as a place of grandeur.”
Where Metropolis features the zippy vibe of the Jazz Age, inspiration for her Aberdeen collection came from across the Pond...of all things, a Scottish golf course: the Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeen (above) and its striking North Sea shoreline, rolling waves and impressive sand dunes. "My grandmother was born and raised in Scotland," adds Ivanka, "and I wanted this collection in my Journey series to reflect a part of my heritage in which I am extremely proud." Jewelrywise, this translates into more of a soft, heirloom-chic vibe with topaz, yellow gold and of course, diamonds.
Grandma certainly approves.
