"There's no room in Paris for these young designers, and you can't get around the city to save your life," observes Jeanne Lombardo, who along with Mazdack Rassi & Keith Baptista created MADE, an alternative way in to the impenetrable monolith known as Fashion Week for smaller designers. Setting up in the stately Hôtel Salomon de Rothschild in Paris with headliners Anthony Vaccarello & Gareth Pugh and at Milk Studios in downtown NYC, they host shows, presentations & the all-important FW parties. "A lot of people didn't want us to roll this out when we started, because it somehow created change, or conflict," adds Baptista. "They were like, 'Don't create a program that takes people away from the tents, is inconvenient for editors, is going to be overcrowded. But this was something that was important. It needed to happen." And as for what MADE adds to the fashiony mix? "Don't ask what Made fashion week does," retorts Rassi. "Ask what would happen if we went away."
