"I've been told that I have Native American in my blood," notes the Detroit-based designer Brianne Turczynski, who recently sent along one of her lovely BrianneFaye graphic print artwork scarves - hand-loomed & -printed in India - in savory shades of wine & berry. "Maybe this is why I'm drawn to geometric shapes and the beat of a drum. I like to think my designs have their own beat too. I work with abstract shapes that create my artwork and shimmery fabrics like the sun’s reflection off a rolling river."
And whether you yourself roll in urban settings or patronize high society, her pieces live for getting high (so to speak) and going low. (I could totally picture both those scarf-wearing fashionistas Nicole Richie & Jessica Alba rocking them.) Probably because Brianne has a fondness for wearable art which is obvious in her aesthetic. "The marriage of art and fashion," she adds, "is always a beautiful thing."
