Studded collars are a fun way to add some sass to your look, particularly paired with a cashmere sweatshirt. Here denim expert & founder of Denim Therapy (an awesome repair service for your fave jeans & designer denim), Francine Rabinovich & her editorial team demonstrate how easy-peasy it is to make this fun & blingy accessory for yourself. Just keep your eye out for an inexpensive denim shirt from the thrift store, or maybe you already have one in the closet that isn't being worn & could be donated for the greater fashion good.
Step 1. Be sure to use an old denim shirt that has a collar thick enough to hold studs without tearing.
Steps 2 & 3. Carefully cut the collar away from the shirt.
Step 5. Using the seam as your guide, place your first stud on the collar.
Step 6. Push the prongs all the way through the back of the fabric and using the pliers, push the fabric down on either side of the prongs.
Step 7. Use the pliers to fold the stud prongs down & curl them into the fabric until they are secure.
Steps 8 & 9. Repeat until your collar is covered in studs on both sides.
Step 10. Voila - you're done! Admire your handiwork & then wear it out so others can, too. And when you do wash it, be sure to do it (gently) by hand.
