If you're a jazz musician & you wanna swing, it's all about the flow from one chord to another; if you're a fashionista, it's all about the lithe lines of this groovy new Prada eyewear. Vaguely 50s-meets-90s, these new Swing Sunglasses are a fun way to rock the mid-century trend without looking too retro.
The new Prada Autumn/Winter 2010 campaign similarly plays on the theme of past-meets-future, with model Angela Lindvall as a torch singer in a world of pastel hues, prints, the 50s silhouettes of the Fall collection, plus an added touch of 18th century Baroque - but all remixed for our post-modern century. Shot by Steven Meisel and featuring KaTeY J performing the song "Fever" - the feel is of that unexpectedly suspenseful moment in classic film when a close-up of a detail, gesture, or slight blurring reveals a character's true motivations.
The collection was launched at - where else - a jazz joint: Joe's Pub in NYC. And to further explore the idea of making stylish sound visual, Prada has launched a fun new Manga contest designed to cut across different creative worlds. Comic book design students and indie illustrators are invited to dream up a fabulous fantasy heroine who wears Prada Swing sunnies. The winning heroine(s) will play a starring role in a future Prada publication.
The content is open for submissions until August 31 at Prada.com.
