We all remember Calamity Jane and her gender-bendin', gun totin' & whiskey-guzzlin' on the HBO smash series Deadwood.
But a Pistol packing perfume?
Calamity J is the fourth fragrance from Juliette has a Gun, Romano Ricci’s cult perfume line, and represents a collaboration of the heirs of three French icons: Ricci, Birkin & Sieff.
Its muse is Lou Doillon - daughter of singer and actress Jane Birkin (as in the handbag) & film director Jacques Doillon - who inspired creator Romano Ricci (grandson of legendary perfumer Robert Ricci ) to create his most masculine yet carnal Juliette, yet. The photography is by Sonia Sieff, daughter of the famous photographer Jeanloup Sieff.
While the fragrance takes its inspiration from masculine colognes, the hesperide or dihydromircenol present in 90% of men’s fragrances are missing here, so the composition is unlike a traditional male scent. A soft woodsy top note becomes increasingly sensual with amber and iris at its heart. Although the eau de parfum is concentrated at 16%, the fragrance remains soft and only develops its volume once in contact with the warmth of the skin.
Top Note: No Top Note…
Heart Note: Patchouli, Iris, Amber
Base Note: Musk, Vanilla Infusion
“Defiant and wary, the woman who wears Calamity J can not be told how to behave," notes Ricci. "She has a certain taste for going against the usual customs, a characteristic that defines her singularity. Calamity J. doesn’t try to gain attention because she has another weapon: her perfume." Masculine yet sophisticated, there is something of the dandy about this perfume. This personifies the true essence of Calamity J.
Calamity J. will be available at select retailers including LuckyScent.com & BeautyHabit.com.
