The one-of-a-kind "Super Hello Kitty Jewel Doll" was created by a Tokyo jeweler in collaboration with Enlightened Swarovski Elements, and features 2,345 genuine gemstones - white topaz, pink sapphires, citrine, and black spinel - plus a one-carat diamond, all precision-cut by Swarovski and set in Platinum 900. She recently made her stateside debut in Vegas at Couture 2009, a showcase for the world's leading jewelry designs and timepieces held at the Wynn Hotel. "Super Hello Kitty Jewel Doll represents the classical essence and timelessness of Hello Kitty," explains Janet Hsu, President of Sanrio Global Consumer Products, about this glittery incarnation of the original ambassador of uber-cuteness. "We are enthusiastic to be teaming up with Enlightened - Swarovski Elements to bring her next travel adventure to the U.S. Her sparkle and endearing charm shone in Las Vegas."
The doll will serve as the inspiration for a one-of-a-kind necklace featuring its own Mini Me - a smaller version created by Simmons Jewelry Co. to be revealed and auctioned off in concert with the cutesy creature's 35th Anniversary on November 1st. Other Hello Kitty-themed merch to keep an eye out for: ASICS x Hello Kitty sneakers (mid-September launch), tokodoki for Hello Kitty (holiday), Victoria Couture cashmere, special pieces by Judith Leiber, a collaboration with Dell Computers, and iPhone apps (already launched - check out AppleStore.com).
