For the May 09 issue, the country music beauty poses as Grace Kelly, Twiggy & Brigitte Bardot, and explains why she was drawn to these blondes in particular.
“Grace is probably the one that I relate to the most in my life and the one that I have most in common with,” says Hill, resplendent on the elegant faux cover as the icy 50s icon in a cream-colored, one-shouldered gown by Randi Rham and pearl jewelry by Neil Lane. “I have this seemingly high-profile life, like Grace did, and we were both the mother of three children. She epitomizes the all-American girl with a quiet class and inner strength. She was like everybody’s girl—seemingly comfortable and accessible—yet untouchable.”
A dramatic Op-Art two-tone shift in an equally dramatic black and white shot lent a dose of 60s innocence and openness to the Twiggy look. “It was hard for me to look at myself as Twiggy,” admits Hill. “I think she was in her late teens when the original photo was taken. And there’s a very big difference between a teenager and a 41-year old!”
Adorned with a garland of colorful flowers, flowing golden locks and heavy eye makeup, Hill plays up her sensual side as French actress, model and singer/sex kitten Brigitte Bardot. “To be completely candid, I felt least like Brigitte of all three of the women,” acknowledges Hill. “To me, sexuality is very different from sensuality. And Brigitte possesses this sensual essence that is so powerful. If I could possess that kind of sensuality, I would want to possess it like she does.”
The May issue is on newsstands April 28 - but until then, be sure to check out RedbookMag.com.
