As we head into a new year and new fashion season, there's no time like the present to make a list, check it twice, and figure out which of 2009's fashions are going to be naughty or nice. "'09 is all about shine!" says Constance White, eBay Style Director (be sure to check out her eBay Insider blog). "The shine trend shows no signs of abating. A satin cocktail dress for evening or a patent handbag for day are two ways to brighten your look. If you'd rather not go all out, add a touch of metallic sparkle with a bold cuff or big necklace."
Here are her timely tips on other trends that will stay runway-worthy in 2009:
Be Bold Choose a color that makes a statement for spring. Try hot pink or intense yellow, and always remember the power of purple.
Foot Aggression Think thick. Shoes are all about the chunk next year. Stout heels make a fabulously theatrical statement.
Bare It All Even if the weather outside is frightening, heat things up with mini - the shorter, the better. The main thing is to show some skin, be it in a flattering pair of shorts or an abbreviated dress for day. After nightfall, enjoy the evening's escapes even more by hiking up the hemline on a cocktail dress.
Jump! One-piece rompers are all the rage, so hop into a jumpsuit. However, avoid orange....trust us: this is definitely not the look you're going for.
Sweet & Subtle From very pale pink, to ivory and chocolate, nude hues will sizzle for spring, while adding demure sophistication to warmer weather wear. As an added bonus, nude footwear elongates the leg for a flattering and flirty touch.
Retro Redux The most popular looks of the 80s are reinventing themselves in the New Year in plaids, fads and shoulder pads. Girls will just wanna have fun in sultry cut outs, skinny legs, the return of the earring, and lots of bold jewelry.
