When asked what her inspiration for Spring 2009, designer Lela Rose responded, "Out of Africa by way of 10021- it’s very modern and feminine. What’s so interesting about it is all the different pairings of African tribal textiles, and mixing patterns, prints and textures." Organza skirts and dresses, linen jackets, embroidered cotton faille, a twisted and tucked chiffon bustier, dip-dyed one-shoulder knot dress and tapestry embroidered belts were brought to life with a vivid color palette of yellow sapphire, fire opal, ocean blue, lazuli, moonstone, check plaids, stripes and an ikat print. "The colors are the most richly saturated colors I think we ever used. They're exceptional in the tones and how rich they are."
