She recently showed up at a NYC fundraiser hosted by Vogue & Calvin Klein in a chic palazzo-pant hostess ensemble designed by fash insider fave Isabel Toledo. "We almost fainted," admitted Toledo & husband, Ruben, to Fashion Week Daily. "We knew that she was one of our clients that buys Isabel at Ikram in Chicago, but we never imaged she would wear it for a professional appearance." Designer Thakoon Panichgul also gave it his fashionable seal of approval ("It was totally surprising but totally appropriate at the same time!") while Isaac Mizrahi's cheeky contribution to the evening was to ask the guest of honor: "Are you taller than Barack in heels?"
And everyone's other fave MFM (Michelle Fashion Moment) to date? The vibrant purple shift/ace Alaia belt/pearl combo she wore when Obama clinched the nomination, which the Wmagazine.com blog noted looked remarkably similar to another fashion icon:
Hmmm...did Michelle sneak a lil' SATC in on the campaign trail...or mere chic coincidence?
