better schedule that pedi as toes are in the spotlight at Chanel, Viktor & Rolf, Chloe (top) and Dolce & Gabbana, Prada & Balenciaga (bottom)
One of the most interesting ways that the ongoing trend of seasonless dressing has taken shape is with the peeptoe bootie - not quite traditional warm weather footwear but the perfect way to ground floaty floral frocks; and unless you're frolicking in the snow and slush, easily winterized with a pair of beefy opaque tights. Dolce wrote the manual this season for rocking the peeptoe with something other than pants by showing theirs in a colorful variety of grey patents, brocades, dyed snakeskin patchwork - and pairing them with art-print girlie dresses. However, the most interesting version definitely strode down the Prada runway: a combination flat boot cutaway gladiator-style to reveal the toes. Lopresti makes a beautiful version from embroidered silk brocade, shantung & organza ribbon ties.
Investing in a peeptoe this season is a great way to keep your look fresh, especially a print dress - a la the Spring 2008 Gucci ad campaign - sleek dark denim pencil skirt, or, yes, wide-legged pants. Here are some fun peeptoe booties at a variety of pricepoints:
