Whoever said Pain is Beauty, Beauty is Pain never kicked off a night on the town in sexy new strappy stilettos, only to be hobbling unglamorously by the end of the evening, fighting the temptation to toss the evil instruments of torture into the nearest trashcan.
Happily, a stylish solution exists. Designed by Catherine Meuter, the clever, collapsible EIN/TRITT features a flat-packibility that significantly reduces production and shipping costs; however what really matters fashion'wise is that they are easily stashed in a bag.
Although the heel-free design is not dissimilar to the towering wonder on the Antonio Berardi runway - or even the odd Marc Jacobs shoe with the heel sprouting horizontally from the ball of the foot - this prototype is probably a tad too "architectural" for the mass market. Look for it to spawn a slew of new flat-packed shoes in designs more appealing to the mainstream fashionista. Simply pop in your purse, and once the night is over, fold up, slip on, and enjoy sweet relief for your tired dogs.
As there is no word when they will be available, your best bet until then is probably the disposable unfolding flip flips from your local pedi joint.
