Colorful prints from Dries Van Noten, Christian Dior Couture and Alexander McQueen for Spring 2008
The spring runways were awash in a riot of prints, from ombre to ethnic to tribal. To get the look, here are some affordable versions from Rebecca & Drew, Splendid and Ella Moss:
Rebecca & Drew Inspired by the De Stilj art movement, the designers took a constructionist approach to a collection splashed with bright graphics in gray, red and black, creating styles that transform to allow for more style versatility, such as the Tank Dress that can be lengthened or shortened - or even have color blocking added - with zippers. Splendid This season features a unique take on ombre prints, especially bright hues of orange, yellow and green. A particular standout: the effortlessly chic white sundress fading to a brightly tinted trim. Splendid.com
Ella Moss With tunic styled tops in loosely striped browns, greens and whites, strapless dresses in khaki, olive and brown, spring highlighted an African Safari's worth of tribal prints and interesting details such as brown wooden beads hanging from necklines and waistbands. EllaMoss.com
