Style.com recently compiled their Spring 2008 Beauty Trend Report & the results are in: from anime-bright streaked hair to quirky cat eyes & big brows, earth angels & a rebellious Debby Harry vibe - spring hair & makeup, while classic, are taking a marked turn toward fantasy.
In times of trouble, people tend to seek escapism & given the quagmire of the Middle East, out of control global warming & other dire consequences of our abuse against the earth, myriad mysterious diseases, and generally nasty news, the grim forecast calls for an extra helping of make-believe.
At Anna Sui, Garren added crayon-bright extensions, a look also seen at Marc by Marc Jacobs. Derek Lam opted for Guy Bourdin 70s high glamour. Pat McGrath updated last season's dark ladylike lip as red velvet at Dolce & Gabbana, while Gucci was feeling more devil-may-care Blondie. Tom Pecheux envisioned the Marni girl in a pastel blue cateye, and Sonia Rykiel's ethereal blondes had butterflies in their tresses. At Rodarte, James Kaliardos went for futuristic eyeliner with a punk-meets-anime feel.
