From the perspective of most straight men, probably the most mystifying statement to come out of a woman's mouth occurs as she surveys the disaster area that is her stuffed-to-the-rafters closet, wailing: "I have nothing to wear!" So in a fun series of Bluefly ads unveiled during the premiere episode of Project Runway Season 4, the proposed solution is to brazenly forgo attire altogether.
In Airport, a woman waits patiently in the security line until she's asked to remove her shoes, the only thing she's wearing, before she confidently heads to her departure gate. In Family Dinner, as she raises her glass for a toast, her family, understanding her fashion dilemma, act as if nothing is amiss. Narrated by Brenda Strong, the Desperate Housewives narrator, it's an amusing take on a dilemma that many style-minded women grapple with daily. "We think these new ads are lighthearted and fun while speaking to what seems to be a shared complaint among most women," notes Melissa Payner, President and CEO of Bluefly, the show's exclusive retail sponsor. "Our closets are packed to the gills yet we have nothing to wear."
Directed by Luciano Podcaminsky of Radical Media and created by New York-based advertising firm McCaffery Gottlieb & Lane, the spots will continue to air through the end of December on Bravo, TBS, E!, Style Network, WE and CW during other hit shows including Gossip Girls and America's Next Top Model.
