This new effort from the entrepreneurial team at J.Crew is based on the original Madewell brand founded in 1937. Offering hip, layer-it-up charm that isn't overly serious but has the edge fashion insiders dig, fans now include Chloe Sevigny, Michelle Williams, Winona Ryder, Uma Thurman, and Reese Witherspoon.
Thanks to NYC-style construction delays, the new Soho store in the historical landmark building at the corner of Broome & Broadway won't be open until early 2008. Until then, New York will have to suffice with the interim store just a few blocks north at 532 Broadway.
