Necessity is indeed the mother of invention, especially when it falls on the, er, heels of yet another expensive trip to the tailor. "Isn't there anything you can buy to fix this?" asked a frustrated Mindy Alperin
as her daughters struggled with the dilemma of what length to hem
newly-purchased pants to make them equally appropriate for both heels
& flats. "NO!" came the equally frustrated reply from Jamie Lazar & Lauren Alperin who suddenly came up with the solution.
Over the next few weeks, they proceeded to develop a prototype involving flexible fabric strips containing a set of strong magnets.
Simply cuff your pant to the length you want, then place a zakkerz strip each on the inside of the pant next to - but not on - both side seams, and wrap the strip around to the outside of the pant. Either leave as a cuff, or bring each of the ends under so they meet at their respective side seams for a finished insta-hem. While they are currently available only in basic black (after all, who doesn't have a pair of black pants), the line will soon be expanded to include more colors and additional patterns & prints.
Available in pairs from zakkerz.com.
