Dear Chief: I’m a Doll on a mission. For the past few weeks I have been combing the city in search of the perfect pair of glasses for my face. Sadly, I have had no luck in my quest. Please help me find the perfect frames. - Sincerely, Blind Confusion
How, Confused: Your problem, Young Stylista, although seemingly agonizing, is actually quite easy to solve. Don't fret, The Chief is here to help.
OVAL If you have an oval face, your face shape has balanced proportions. In order to maintain your natural balance, look for frames that are the same width as - but no wider than - the broadest part of your face.
ROUND If your face is round, the goal is to create bone structure visually. Try angular, narrow frames such as cateye shapes.
HEART SHAPED To minimize the width of the top of the face, try frames that are wider at the bottom and incorporate only light colors—rimless styles are a good bet.
SQUARE Finally, if your face is square with both a broad jaw line & equally broad forehead, you’re going to want to make your face look longer, and soften the angles as well. Choose frames that are narrow, more horizontal than vertical, and wider than the widest part of your face.
