Cool new magazine alert from Fashiontribes!
A group of NYC escapees from other mags have banded together to start their own way-cool book: Something In the Way. It's a bi-monthly, oversized B&W publication on newsprint that promises to be a "bible of new ideas" about NYC art and fashion. With its all-star lineup of talent, this is not just talk: Julie Ragovia did fashion at The Fader during the time it was cool, and has recently been collaborating with 50 Cent on all of his new fashion ventures; the PR Director was the Fashion Marketing Director at Vice; the Creative Directors were at The Fold, Big, and Trace, and worked regularly with high falutin' photogs like Mario Sorrenti, Phil Poynter & Theirry Le Goues.
Expect awesome fashion editorial, cutting-edge music coverage, and original profiles about artists and designers of the moment. (God knows, I get so sick of reading these puff pieces cribbed right off press releases that pass for "profiles" - and we're talking fancy glossies with big budgets rather than small publications with no $$$!) Something In The Way will be distributed in "select" showrooms, boutiques and art galleries in NYC, London & Paris.
From what we've heard, people in other cities are already flooding their email with requests for copies of Something In the Way. I guess you just can't keep a good thing under wraps.
