FASHIONWEEK Spring 2008: Safari on Over to Tse for a Luxe Out-of-Africa Moment. FASHIONTRIBES FASHION BLOG
Summary: Chic olive drab coat dresses, massively slouchy tops layered over loose ankle-length cargo pants & paired with thick-strapped Manolo Blahnik gladiator flats, and the new fave wide leg made for one comfy collection - but in an old money way (this being Tse cashmere after all). An oversize handknit stitch resuted in a surprisingly airy, floaty skirt in military green that swished elegantly, and for 9-to-5 days spilling into Sex & the City evenings, the mixed-fabric tone-on-tone dress with a pewter metallic linen skirt & sleeveless knit top would be a chic multitasker. "The spring 2008 collection works with the idea of imprints," explains designer Tess Giberson. "Dreamlike and ethereal elements are mixed together with vivid contrasts through the exploration of color, silhouette and material...The collection combines exaggerated proportions with a clean, modern sensibility. The emphasis is a deflated volume with a slight romantic feeling balanced against narrow, structured silhouettes with military abstractions."
Color Palette: olive drab, cement gray, "marigold" (aka rust), bright blue, chartreuse, white, black
Textures & Details: metallic pewter linen; interesting tone-on-tone mixtures of dark gray sheer knits & metallic linen; dark grey for evening; oversize-stitch handknit skirts;
Key Looks: olive-drab sleeveless coatdress; sleeveless deep gray dress with sheer bodice & metallic linen skirt; dark grey floor-length gown; handknit olive drab skirt with matching military-style jacket
