The Offical Super Saturday Aftersale Starts Tomorrow (Sat. Aug 4) at Bluefly.com. Benefit Ovarian Cancer Research While You Shop. FASHIONTRIBES FASHION BLOG
Super Saturday is typically one of the most highly anticipated Hamptons events of the summer; an annual ritual for the past 10 years. The daylong star-filled designer garage sale took place this year on Saturday, July 28th at the Nova's Art Project in Water Mill, New York, and included A-list merch donated from more than 200 designers. Selling for up to 50% off, the proceeds are going to the fight against ovarian cancer (last year's event raised in excess of $2.4 million!).
In addition to shopping, almost 2000 affluent bargain-hunters, celebrities, designers, media and fashion lovers and their families reveled in a fun-filled day of shopping, a kids' carnival with rides, games, a raffle and live entertainment. Donna Karan underwrote the event, while InStyle Magazine sponsored, Bluefly.com was a Grand Benefactor Sponsor, and TV personality Kelly Ripa helped to host. The glitterati included Russell Simmons, Mandy Moore & Rudy Giuliani, who all turned out to support the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund (OCRF - OCRF.org). OCRF is the leading independent, non-profit organization in the United States dedicated to advancing research, raising awareness and finding a cure for ovarian cancer. (Ovarian cancer takes the lives of over 15,000 women in the United States each year, with over 20,000 new cases being diagnosed annually. There is currently no method of early detection, leading to late diagnosis in 75 percent of all cases.)
For the first time for fashionistas unable to make it to the Hamptons can score some of the generously-donated designer duds online - including Diane von Furstenberg and Marc Jacobs - when all the unsold merchandise from the event goes on sale starting tomorrow, Saturday August 4th at Bluefly.com. "We are so pleased to partner with the OCRF for our inaugural Super Saturday Aftersale and we look forward to offering continuous support for this tremendous cause long after the event is over," says Bluefly President and CEO Melissa Payner about the Official Super Saturday Aftersale - of which every penny goes to the OCRF. "Devoted shoppers across the country can finally experience the same thrill and excitement as if they attended Super Saturday, while knowing everything they purchase will be instrumental in the fight against ovarian cancer."
