In August, the readers' nominations will determine the Reader's Choice in each category, and which final designs the StyleBakery.com editors & style mavens at Ravinstyle.com vote on as category winners. "StyleBakery.com has always been a great supporter of up-and-coming designers and online boutiques," says TV style expert and StyleBakery.com cofounder, Alison Deyette. The launch of this year's On  the Rise Awards coordinates with the latest edition of Designers on the Rise, StyleBakery.com's popular online directory featuring over 100 of the top emerging designers and independent boutiques. This unique directory, the first of its kind, offers the public the opportunity to shop directly from the artists, often at discounted prices. "In addition to our biannual Designers on the Rise issue, we regularly include merchandise from independent sites in our features alongside more established mass-market sites, thereby giving them equal editorial importance."

Winners of last year's awards included best handbag designer, Hayden-Harnett, and best jewelry designer, Jessica Hicks. This year's winning designers will be featured on StyleBakery.com in August and will have the opportunity to exhibit their designs at Nolcha's New York fashion week in September to an audience of press, buyers and fashion lovers from across the globe.
