At the recent Oscars, Nicole Kidman walked the red carpet in a pair of diamond cuffs containing 187 hand selected diamonds totalling an astounding 375 carats - all rough cut & in their natural state. The unusual "arrowhead" shaped diamonds, known as maccles, are actually distorted octahedrals that at some point in their growth changed direction, giving rise to the distinctive triangle shape. Stones like these are typically found in mines in Botswana, Russia, and South Africa.
