Glamour's "Women of the Year" Honors Cool Chicks & Offers Up a Chance to Bid on Gorgeous Gems that Help Benefit the Environment. FASHIONTRIBES FASHION BLOG
This year's Glamour Women of the Year event featured an environmental twist with a couple of eco-friendly spin-offs. The magazine partnered with Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive to support the environmental cause, and stars like Emmy Rossum, Stephen Colbert, and Rosario Dawson arrived to the event in an eco-friendly Toyota Prius instead of a gas-guzzling SUV. Environmental activist, Laurie David inspired this year's cause and selected the NRDC as the charity associated with the celebrity auction. She was featured in Glamour's December issue and was presented a Women of the Year award by Robert F. Kennedy at Glamour's 17th annual awards ceremony at Carnegie Hall.
Ten past and present honorees also autographed a signature box containing a Jennifer Meyer design for an online auction to benefit the Natural Resource Defense Council (NRDC). To bid on the 18k white gold Jennifer Meyer Leaf Pendant necklace - similar to the one sported by Jennifer Aniston & housed in an exclusive box signed by the likes of Queen Latifah, Laurie David, Billie Jean King, Monica Seles, Melissa Etheridge, Katie Couric, Sheryl Crow, Kelly Ripa, Karenna Gore Schiff and Eve Ensler - visit ebay's luxury portal: Portero.com.
