It's also time to do a sweep of your current beauty stash, a practice makeup guru Christina of eBeautyDaily recommends you do twice yearly - once in the spring, and once in the fall.

She recently offered up these tips & guidelines for how long various makeup items keep...which is to say: not forevever.

• Mascara - toss after 3 months (bacteria present a risk to your eyes)
• Foundation - 6 months
• Powder & powder blush - 1 year
• Lipgloss - 1 year
• Lipstick - 2 years
• anything that looks/feels/smells funky - toss immediately

Once you've tossed & purged - you did, right?! - it's time to go shopping. Here are some great picks for stealing fall's new polished look:
