FASHIONWEEK Spring 2007: Sabayashi’s Babydoll Babes and Lusty Ladies. FASHIONTRIBES FASHION BLOG & PODCAST
Summary: Mixed fabrics never looked so far from the craftsy, loving-hands-at-home look that can derail a collection quickly. Sabayashi’s colorful, interesting mixes of colors and fabrics worked surprisingly well, and the highlights were the nipped waist, full skirts paired with chic buttondowns & a wide belt. Especially fabulous: grey platform Loubie’ish pumps for spring.
Color Palette: white & cream, black, gold glitter details & patterns, grey leggings, leaf green, deep green, muted teal, olive drab, polka dots, mustard, and black with gold
Textures & Details: cinched waist/full skirts, pinafores, baby doll silhouettes, dresses with pockets, and mixed fabrics and strips of color
Key looks: an apron tie full skirt with blouse; a red full skirt with cream blouse & black waist tie; black brocade babydoll swingcoast with a white – almost priest-like – collar and teal bib; leg-of-mutton sleeves in a gorgeously drapey print chiffon
