FASHIONWEEK Spring 2007: Our Man in Panama – a Panama Hat, That is, and Slouchy Menswear Elegance at Chaiken. FASHIONTRIBES & GIRLAWHIRL FASHION BLOG & PODCAST
Summary: A dashing straw trilby pretty much guarantees panache, which is probably why Chaiken paired almost every look – from shorts to dresses to suits – with one. Shiny satin for day? A big yes if it’s a thigh high cargo short in chocolate and sleeveless & swingy trapeze top in eyecatching neon chartreuse. Other fun pieces included a white pants suit paired with white buttondown, chocolate brown dip-dyed wide-legged silk pant & sleeveless matching top combo, and a pristine white chunky knit cotton poncho/cape with a single oversize button at the base of the collarbone.
Color Palette: chocolate, white, neon chartreuse, hot pink, white
Textures & Details: shiny satin, chunky cotton knits, straw panama hats, waist pack purse
Key looks: white knit poncho/cape & Panama hat; swingy trapeze babydoll dresses; head-to-toe white pants, jacket & buttondown – with hat, of course
