FASHIONWEEK Spring 2007: Gustavo Arango Costumes the Life I Want to Lead Full of Party Dresses & Red Carpet Gowns. FASHIONTRIBES & GIRLAWHIRL FASHION BLOG & PODCAST
Summary: The classic Arango customer got what she’s come to expect: classically beautiful gowns & ensembles in feminine, sophisticated colors. Interesting visual details such as laser cut-outs, and strips of tone-on-tone ruched, pleated chiffon kept matters stylish. Silhouettes like the pencil skirt and fitted bodice/full skirted gowns dipped & curved in all the right places. An interesting standout was a gown in head-to-toe tomato red – used as an accent color in many other collections, but as a full look here.
Color Palette: Pinkish nude, blush, muted cobalt with mauve’y pink, cream & ivory, shimmery silver, rich navy, tomato red
Textures & Details: wrapped obi-like belts, shimmery beaded trim, ruffles, external decorative darts, shimmery dress straps (like those found on a pinafore), lace overlay
Key looks: gorgeously draped navy laser cut dress & top; tomato red chiffon evening gown; mauve & pink pencil skirt & silk blouse
