PRODUCTDOSE PICK O' THE WEEK: Does the Term Windbreaker Ever Convey Much Excitement? Thanks to Ghurka, the Answer is Now Yes. FASHIONTRIBES MENS FASHION BLOG

The windbreaker is almost, by definition, a basic and uninspired jacket that doesn't take up much space in a backpack and simply protects the upper body from a—not even cold, really—slightly annoying summer breeze. We present, as an alternative, this Ghurka Zip Windbreaker, a refined design for a lightweight jacket.

This jacket doesn't really change the basic functionality of a windbreaker, but it does freshen up the model a bit. Zip-front, buttoned cuffs, two points of elastic waist around the back, and two side pockets could all be expected. The heavy canvas (as opposed to nylon) gives the jacket a touch of grownup class, and the military-informed coloring seems to still make a lot of fashion sense. The detailing around the pockets has to be the defining stylistic touch on this jacket, giving the piece a touch of character you generally don't find in windbreakers. Like the better lightweight summer jackets you've owned, this one is sturdy, machine washable, and ready to be tossed around. What Ghurka Zip Windbreaker offers is a reminder that there's no reason a jacket has to look expendable, even if that's how you are treating it. Available at ActiveEndeavors.com
