State of the Fashion Union: Fall 2006 Features Tons of Bubble-Like Silhouettes, Ruffles, Oversize Everything - in a Silver Screen Palette of a Re-Colorized Black & White Movie. FASHIONTRIBES FASHION BLOG
Thus far into the festivities, New York's fashion world is seeing things in black, white/cream, taupe, & grey-grey-grey for Fall 2006, with snippets of color as a side dish:
- periwinkle at Kenneth Cole
- sage & lime green at A La Disposition
- rust at Carolina Herrera
- purple at Baby Phat
- neon fuschia at Alice Roi
- gold & electric blue at Afshin Feiz
- orange at Alexandre Hercovitch
- browns & mustards at former As Four Kai Kuhne/Myself
- eggplant at Rachel Comey
- red at Keanan Duffty
- green at Tuleh
- chartreuse at Venexiana
- dusty rose at Doo.ri
Shape- and fabric-wise, it's clothing fit for battle in the modern world with stiffer wools, high ruffle-y neckline, military style outerwear, leather pistol holsters as an accessory, and the Spanish Infanta even made an appearance - albeit in a cropped, green & black print version of the wide-as-a-door skirt. And get your belt on - waists are not only defined & cinched, they're moving up-up-up to become an empire - as if you've taken to wearing your threads Pee Wee Herman style.
