A Depressing, Depression-Era Vision from Wunderkind. Fall 2006 Runway Review. FASHIONTRIBES FASHION BLOG & PODCAST
From the dim lighting, to the 20s newsboy caps, to the terrible Smiths'esque song with lyrics about "you make me sick" playing in an endless repeating loop - the Fashiontribes editors, were, well...speechless (for once...so enjoy it).
The muted color palette was on trend with what we've been seeing on the runways, but the depressing vibe was distinctly not. Joop did the volume, but it felt droopy, unflattering, & ill fitting. The styling didn't help matters, adding to the bad grunge feel. Don't misunderstand, we really wanted to like the collection, and individually, there were pieces we liked - a autumnal velvet gathered skirt, a brown leather suit with pleated skirt, a chiffon grey mini leopard print dress with cap sleeves & turtleneck that tied at the back in a charming bow - however, viewed as a whole, this collection was a dreary mess.
Wunderkind color palette:
- brown tweed
- grey
- brown leather
- ivory with sparkly accents
- autumn'y orange
- chocolate brown
Accessories/Hair & Makeup:
- 20 newsboy caps
- messy bobs
- elbow length fingerless leather gauntlet "glove"
- Lesley Scott & Rachel Remz Porter
