Lesley and Rachel weigh in on Doo.Ri's Fall 2006 Collection! Let's join them for their take on the clothes, styling, hair, and makeup!
Doo.Ri was a much anticipated show! Going out to Splashlight was a long haul but it was worth it. The Queen Bee herself La Wintour was there in the front row.
Rachel-It felt like a Great Gatsby lunching out on The Island sort of collection but with more volume. There was a lot of menswear. Taupe, dusty rose, rose nude kept in step with the neutral theme we have been seeing. She was Geoffrey Beene's assistant for five years and it really shows up in her tailoring. The accessories were interesting with gold pumps. The dark eye and strong brow with the light lips and the pushed back hair was a great look. The higher the hair the closer to God so Doo.Ri was reaching for the stars here.
Lesley-She did some interesting slouchy work with opera length gloves that will show in all of the big editorial spreads. The menswear suiting that ballons from a leather forearm that is really stunning. Overall the muted tones, the menswear, the elegance screamed money and taste. Elegant without being precious. The old money theme, the channeling of the twenties was novel without simply using the old lines. It was a great collection and since the Queen herself was there it must matter!
