Comme Des Garcons Spring 2006 Collection from Paris Fashion Week-Rei Kawakubo gives a little Anglomania nod to British Queen Bee, Viv Westwood. Interesting, indeed.-Fashiontribes Fashion Blog

Rei Kawakubo is widely regarded as one of fashion's true geniuses-and not in a "oooh, this dress is genius!" way. Comme des Garcons, her child of sorts, continually showcases ideas that expand the mind as well as the fashion horizon.  This go-round, however, it seems Ms. Kawakubo is nodding towards another Fashion great-one Ms. Vivienne Westwood.  While Rei said it was about drapery and the abilities of fabric-not one look was flat patterned, each item was draped on a form-one can't help but notice she gleaned a bit off of Old Mother England.  Her cheeky use of the Union Jack, girls fit with curls and crowns and the abundance of plaids hearken us back to the punk revolution that hit London in the 70's.  This collection-odd tulle covered forms, draped plaid numbers and Union Jack shorts-was interesting and fun to look at, but certainly not her best.  Of course, one can't expect gingham stretched over bodily deformities every year.
