My, that brooch is lovely-MP3 File
Flair is in the air!! If you have seen me (and you probably have, chic globetrotter that I am) you know that I have a way with Flair. Necklaces, pins, earrings, rings, bracelets. I say the more the merrier! Of course, generous doll that I am, I want to share the flair.
Fashiontribes.com discovered Bakelite Bits in our April Issue ( Fashion, Fancy Flirt, check it out). Artist Aileen Ward began a love-affair with Bakelite upon sight of a red and butterscotch plastic vintage radio. She now puts her own stamp on Bakelite, creating one of a kind art-deco inspired pieces for your consumption. Deco doesn't do it for ya? Aileen does custom. Check her out at
oakybit@hotmail.com or visit www.rubylane.com/shops/bits.
Like your Bakelite Vintage? Vintage Bakelite is hard to come by and even harder to afford. Rubylane's shopping mall has Evelynne's Oldies But goodies, which offers an awesome selection of choice vintage Bakelite.Keep your eye out for the charming cameos and the lovely geometrical earrings.
Looking for cute summery goods that don't break the bank? Try Cornyness shop for all that is simply adorable. For a mere fiver, you can score dangly little earrings with ice cream cones, undies, dominos, flip flops or the like. $7 will land you a darling hand stitched felt brooch. For $6-$10, check out the sweet stuffed toys or the hand crocheted cell phone pouch.
Doll Deluxe displays along with the likes of Tatty Divine (a perennial Fashiontribes favorite). The jewelry manages to walk the fine line between edgy and delicate, with layers of chain, pearls, safety pins, horns and other punky/girly accoutrements. Offering bracelets, necklaces, earrings and brooches, Zoe Noble adorns the chunky chain with swarovski, striking a dynamic balance. Setting out to make jewelery she would actually wear, she obviously succeeded-we want to wear it too!!
Connie Sewer's name makes me giggle (get it? Connoisseur!). Her jewelry reminds me of a terrific period movie- crisp, beautifully colored, extremely gorgeous and maintaining a refreshing feeling while courting nostalgia. The pieces range from wood earrings to beautiful celluloid pieces, all reworked from vintage. The pins stand out as a unique twist on fun vintage-modern. Connie is definitely on the Fashiontribes shopping list!
