Livin' should be easy in summertime. But even if it ain't, at least the fashion part shouldn't be overly difficult. Black & white with red is always a winning combo & this fun movie-night popcorn bag should help remind you not to take it all so seriously.

These snazzy t-strap Snowplush wedge sandals, which Aerosoles recently sent me so I could let you know about them as part of my gig as a Brand Ambassador, made me think "Gatsby!" Of course a neutral metallic sandal pretty much goes with anything summery in your closet, but for a more unexpected choice, go upscale and elegant with longer, floatier hemlines and rich-money muted hues. Um, okay, so the owl pendant isn't exactly "old money" but it's so dang cute, I couldn't help myself. Which is just what Daisy would probably think.

This chic McQ Alexander McQueen's fine-jersey t-shirt was printed with a revised version of the label's much-loved tartan pattern & incorporates pleating for a touch of interesting visual texture. For warmer days, easy espadrilles always give off a summery vibe as does a skirt in a yummy shade of citrus. And when fall finally hits, wear it over a cashmere longsleeve tee (just as you would a vest or sweater), shimmy into some leather jeans & toss on some kickass boots. Booyah.

Thin-weave nautical stripe sweaters the perfect piece to wear poolside, aboard or at the shore when the air is still a tad chilly in the early morning or later, after the sun sets. They also let you bring some of the beach home when you make them city-ready with a pair of crisp cotton trousers. While you could do navy accents for a fun matchy-matchy look, a more interesting way to go - as I did with this "Breton" one from Celtic & Co. that they recently sent me - is with other shades of blue, from aquamarine (the sneakers) to a more dusty denim shade (the bag & patterned scarf).
I'm competing with a few other hand-picked bloggers in the Summer Stylist Contest by Wallis (sister brand to Topshop, Miss Selfridge & Dorothy Perkins). Everyone participating was sent three pieces, like this stripey sweater I received, and then challenged to come up with an ensemble. If you like it, please do vote for it on the Wallis FB page RIGHT HERE. The contest ends June 30th, 2013 at midnight. And to snag this look for yourself, everything is available at WallisFashion.com.
These seriously pimped-out brogues were just too good not to figure out some way to wear them that didn't involve looking like a total tool. I love a fashion challenge, plus I like to mix plaids 'cuz it's kinda risky...Winning! Why not try something fun like this yourself? If you're not sure where to start, try black & white with red - or any other bright color for that matter. Black & white plaids, checks & graphic prints look really spot-on with colorful accents, even neon. And don't be afraid to go for it. If you fail and do end up looking like a tool, at least you went down with some flair. Which is what counts in the end.
