One of my fave pix of yours truly with my mom, Mary Jo Scott, on one of our annual trips to fun places like Burma, Tasmania, Uzbekistan, the Inca Trail, Tanzania, Nepal, New Zealand, camel trekking in Morocco, Easter Island - this one was taken when we were sailing around the various islands of Indonesia. She died of breast cancer in 2004.

It's breast cancer awareness month. As someone who lost their nearest & dearest friend/pal/confidante/travel companion - my mom, Mary Jo Scott - to this dreadful disease, it turned out that those ads are sadly right: breast cancer touches all of us, whether or not we are actually diagnosed with the disease.
