Andy Warhol joked that "art is whatever you can get
away with", inspiring a festive, tinsel-ready collection by François Nars for Holiday 2012 which includes a bold NY doll purple, superstar red, technicolor yellow, candy green, factory silver, vibrant Edie pink & a even a Debbie Harry'ish shade of bold blue.
"I use mostly artificial color," Andy once noted about his iconic silk screens of famous folk (including Harry). "If you're not trying to be real(istic), you don't have to get it right. That's art."
And pop art?
That, according to the artiste, was "about liking things." Which I do. This groovy & fun collection evokes the image-rich, character-laden world of Warhol - it's eyepopping, ephemeral & buzzed about enough at this point that it would make its namesake quite happy (for more than just 15 minutes).
