We all have our go-everywhere pieces we love to wear in heavy wardrobe rotation, but sometimes, even the most hardcore clotheshorse among us can get a stiff case of the closet blahs. The antidote? The right key basics that make it easy to dress up or down, simply by switching out what they're paired with!
SKINNY BLACK PANTS "This versatile item works any season, day or night and can help you achieve any look, depending on your top and shoe pairings," advises Claudia, noting that when it comes to staying on the cutting-edge of style, it's better to update a classic than try & downplay a one-hit wonder. "I personally love a translucent blouse showing off a cute laced cami for a little sexiness and sass, matched with edgy gladiator heels."
TUXEDO JACKET Whether paired with a pant, skirt or over a dress, for a more fresh feel, try switching out your classic blazer for a tuxedo jacket. "Great to pull over any outfit for an instant glammed-up look," confirms Claudia. "I keep my tuxedo jacket handy for a quick meeting or to throw on for an ultra chic look for dinner with friends."
LACY WHITE BLOUSE The crisp white shirt looks most modern right now with lace. "Throw on a short, flared skirt and cute pumps for a date night, or with the skinny black pants for a sleek look for work."
LITTLE RED DRESS This heart-racing hue makes it easy to stand out in a sea of LBDs...without saying a word. To send the right style message, however, be sure to observe these two important guidelines: (1) Keep the silhouette & cut fairly classic and (2) select a neutral shoe (black or nude heels are failsafe). "The LRD is perfect for when you want to spice it up for a corporate affair— classy, yet sexy," adds Claudia, "but I would steer clear of a very short hemline for corporate functions. Keep it classy with the length rising a few inches above your knees." Meaning: if need be, get your hemline exactly right for you by making a date with your tailor.
COLORED DENIM "Rock skinny canary yellow denims with a billowy blouse for a fun night at the bar or wear it with a basic T-shirt for an everyday look. Everything is much more fun—in color!"
