Author Ian Fleming spent two decades worth of winters in Jamaica where he penned all 14 James Bond novels, featuring the island paradise in Dr. No, Live and Let Die, Octopussy and "The Man With the Golden Gun" - and sending 007 on assignment there repeatedly.
The location of his top secret HQ?
The recently re-opened GoldenEye Hotel, owned by Rock and Roll Hall of Famer & founder of Island Records, Chris Blackwell (whose mother, Blanche, was the author's friend & muse and possibly his mistress). Blackwell recently teamed up with Haute Hippie on "All Things Gold", a resort collection of chic looks inspired by the Hotel which is set along the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean Sea. Its lush surroundings are redolent of glamorous old-Hollywood but with a lovely Caribbean feel, reflected in the vintagey/modern clothing designs.
"So much of what inspires us is drawn from the places we travel and the music we listen to," says Trish Wescoat Pound, founder of Haute Hippie. "The partnership with Chris Blackwell and GoldenEye is a true meeting of the minds – a sharing of aesthetics, tastes and influences."
"All Things Gold" will be available at GoldenEye, its sister property Strawberry Hill Hotel, Spa & Gardens, and Haute Hippie stores.
