Although brothers Dick and Wim de Bruijn followed in the well-shod footsteps of their father, Johan Adam, they decided to take his eponymous shoe company - & life's work, which the elder de Bruijn founded in Gouda in the Netherlands - and shake off some of the dust (taking it in a more modern direction). But not by sacrifing any the famed quality of the house that Johan Adam built. (They still pay homage to dad with this crest printed atop their current shoe boxes.)
