Orange You Happy! Tangerine Tango Selected as 2012 Pantone Color of the Year
From art to film to technology & new textures, the Pantone team combs the world - & the worlds of fashion, home & industrial design (and even sports!) - looking for whatever captures our attention - in order to crown the Color of the Year. And on the hot heels of Honeysuckle (below) for 2011, TANGERINE TANGO is just the visual boost we all need to continue facing down everyday troubles with verve and vigor, as we move forward. "Sophisticated but at the same time dramatic and seductive, Tangerine Tango is an orange with a lot of depth to it,” says Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. "Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy."
A touch exotic, a touch familiar, this friendly shade adds sultry flair to lips 'n tips, and for the adventurous, an unexpected way to highlight blue or green eyes (with brown eyes, tangerine eyeshadow brings out an amber cast). Designers have also been embracing it in both their men's and women's spring collections and as a fresh take on a traditional autumnal hue.
An easy way to tango with Tangerine is on a gadget or appliance, as a bedspread, pillow, or even a tabletop accessory to spice up more than just the food. To liven up your crib, try it on a wall in the kitchen, entryway or hallway.
