Wear an Elephant to Save an Elephant!
This eyecatching update on the classic signet ring is handcrafted by artisans in Kenya using locally-sourced 18k gold and hand-carved cow bone. "All our jewelry is made in Africa, by Africans," explains the East Africa-based designer, Elizabeth Gilbert, about her Elephant Collection by Shompole. "Our goldsmiths are Tanzanian and we also work with Luo, Kikuyu and Samburu carvers."
Each piece in the Shompole Collection tells a story, in this case, about preserving the pachyderms - and 10% of the profits go to the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, specifically to help with the rescue of orphaned elephants in Africa. "The collection is not only a gorgeous representation of tribal jewelry that preserves artisan traditions that are fast disappearing, but also a way for people to help protect and preserve Africa’s Wilderness and an endangered species so dear to our hearts."
Available exclusively at the Ingadare Souk.
