On the Trail of the Grail in Petra, Jordan! Get Your Indiana Jones On & Plan Your Next Adventure with Microsoft OneNote
This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Microsoft. All opinions are 100% mine.
When you're researching an upcoming trip, it's easy to quickly amass a ton of different articles, clippings, recommendations on places to stay & eat, and other must-sees, -dos, -visits, & -shop-ats.
But how do you keep everything organized, in one place, and easily accessible?
Using Microsoft OneNote, we created an Indiana Jones-themed OneNote TripBook for Petra, Jordan - the stunning Canyon of the Crescent Moon, or, in real life, the ancient Treasury - where the final scenes of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade were shot. It was fun to imagine everything a would-be Indi would need to wear, places he would have to go, stay & eat, all while attempting to rescue his dad from his Nazi captors & retrieve the Grail!
And OneNote made it surprisingly easy.
The program's Section tabs are like old-school manila file folders, and each can contain as many interior Pages as you want - making it a snap to keep your various items of research separate, yet grouped together, so like is with like (the key to staying organized). And unlike clipping and saving stuff from the newspaper or magazines, OneNote lets you easily import screen-clips into your pages, and add in any links or info you don't wanna forget. In the same way you'd start jotting notes down in the middle of a piece of paper, you can basically do the same on your OneNote Pages, just by positioning your cursor & starting to type; doing so creates a block of text that you can then easily edit, shrink, enlarge, bold, highlight, or move around.
If you're a MacHead, you'll need be able to operate in a Windows environment (we used Parallels); also, we found that the PC-based right-clicking to uncover the various OneNote Tool Menus took a bit of getting used to. But once we did, we were quite impressed at how robust and cool OneNote is. And we can definitely recommend it for making your trip-planning that much more fun & interesting!
