Rummaging through the cooler for the "best" one & then impatiently tugging open that crinkly, vacuum-sealed plastic pouch to bite through the delicious crunch of the chocolate shell and finally get to all that creamy, icy goodness inside...total yummo. There's just something completely return-to-childhood irresistible about ice cream bars. "It reminds me how simple it is to enjoy life's little pleasures," agrees Rachel Bilson, who is starring in three short films rolling out over the next three weeks - to celebrate the launch of Magnum super-premium ice cream stateside - shot by...Karl Lagerfeld.
In each vignette, Bilson plays a diva with a sweet tooth, first as a coddled but discontented model in "Photo Mood" who finally finds the pleasure she's been seeking in the form of a sexy-looking Magnum ice cream bar (the guy playing the pretentious, pompadour'ed photog is hysterical!). In "Art Class", she portrays an art student who finally creates something beautiful once she satisfies her ice cream cravings; and lastly in "Applause": a renowned ballerina who evades her adoring fans - & boyfriend, played by hhh-hot-hottie model Baptiste Giabiconi - to savor a moment to herself, complete with a Magnum. "With the film series, Karl Lagerfeld brought to life the remarkable pleasure that consumers in the U.S. can now enjoy with Magnum ice cream," notes Brian Manning, Vice President of Brand Building in the ice cream division at Unilever, the maker of Magnum. "As one of the most popular ice creams in the world, we're thrilled to see the overwhelmingly positive reception Magnum is already receiving in the U.S."
The short film series even got the star treatment, premiering at the IAC building in NYC to flashbulbs and fanfare - as well as on
the Magnum FB page. "Working with Karl Lagerfeld on the Magnum film series was a once-in-a-lifetime experience," added Rachel Bilson from the red carpet. "Each film is a snapshot in the life of my character. I'm living out my dreams, but I'm always reaching for something more, something to fulfill my desire. That's what's great about Magnum ice cream."
