Renowned French maison des meubles Roche Bobois recently teamed up with Jean Paul Gaultier on a 50th anniversary collection of 250 limited edition pieces of furniture, including sofas, bedroom pieces, cushions, accessories, luggage-inspired chests, and even an updated take on the brand's iconic Ben Hur chair (big wheels for style & practicality) and the Mah Jong sofa that first premiered in 1980, but now featuring distinctive fabrics, a celluloid kiss, and of course, JPG's signature Breton stripes.
The tres glamourous collection includes touches like lace, tattoo, calligraphy & intricate prints, but is actually intended to be quite accessible:
"This opens up what I do and makes my work more available," remarks the designer about this collaboration. "The first time I designed furniture, the range was limited, but this time, I have some re-issues and other more affordable pieces, which is great. Reaching more people is a good thing!"
