Starting September 7th (and right now at colette should you happen to be lucky enough to be in Paris) Payless will be launching its latest Designer Collection with fash-insider fave, Isabel Toledo, known for her fashion-forward, evolving design process rooted in the marriage of art, fashion and invention - and, more recently, the striking chartreuse "Lemongrass" day dress Michelle Obama wore to her husband's inauguration.
"The main inspiration for my first Payless collection was to create a line of shoes that I could wear on a daily basis and that would make a bold fashion statement, but also be very functional too," explains Toledo about the fresh, chic collection of tall boots, ankle booties, pumps, heeled wedges and flats. “I am a New Yorker and I walk all over the city and in the fall that means all sorts of bad weather. These shoes have a strong graphical tone, are fresh new essentials for every woman's fall closet, and are an affordable way to make a strong statement from the ground up."
The Ghillie is a key style in the line, in particular a High Ghillie and a Ballet Flat Ghillie, both of which feature the style's signature half-circle cut-outs and loop lace design, as well as a contrasting all-yellow heeled wedge sole with a zig-zag ripple treatment. “The Ghillie shoe is an important design originating from Scotland as a smart shoe for walking the wet and muddy countryside. A tall, 3.5" "Poodle" belted boot with on-trend faux fur & pyramid stud detailing, the "Sliver" bootie with matching tote, a "Toreador" d’Orsay, and an adorable patent ballet flat with a faux-fur pom-pom adorning the toe. This is the first time Payless has launched one of designer labels first at another retailer, and in typical colette trendsetting style, the Isabel Toledo for Payless styles is being featured in a unique installation in the store.
