Carolina Herrera Gets Her Due
As I pass a tentless & barren Bryant Park and head further uptown to the new park about to become synonymous with fashion, Damrosh Park at Lincoln Center, I realize this is a Fashion Week which will represent change. However, one thing that won't be changing is the ongoing celebration of some the world's best fashion talent, including the "Mercedes-Benz Presents" program which recognizes designers that consistently demonstrate dedication to the use of quality materials, unique style, and innovative design. For Spring/Summer 2011, they will be honoring Carolina Herrera. “I am very proud to be chosen as the “Mercedes-Benz Presents” designer,” notes Herrera. “To be recognized in such an important year in Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week history, is, without question, a wonderful honor.”
Along with a successful Red Carpet season - her frocks were seen on Glee's Dianna Agron & Modern Family's Sofia Vergara and many an Emmy Best Dressed Lists - the Fashion Week will also mark the 10th anniversary of her flagship store on Madison Avenue, and her 30th anniversary of presenting her designs.
